News from the small island

For those of you who did not read the marketing report (or for those that fell asleep while reading it)...as well as those who are not shareholders and have just stumbled across this site by chance...because apparently that can happen...

Cocolobo is now a fully paid up silver member of the Sandy Bay and West End Marine Park (http://www.roatanmarinepark.com/). They are doing some great work, protecting the island's most valuable asset - the reef. They are about to gain full NGO status which, I understand entitles you to apply for more grants etc.

Also of significance is our first plug on radio. We had a great group here last week (all brought together by the brilliant Scott (http://scottfried.com/). He and Valerie are helping with Familias Saludables (http://www.roatanchildrensfund.com/familiassaludables.htm) and went to talk on Roatan Bruce's radio show and mentioned Cocolobo a couple of times. Scott is doing some very good (understatement!) educational work - hear about it - and the name of Cocolobo - at http://www.roatanbruce.com/ - if the show isn't up online yet it soon will be.

Stop the clock

A couple of days ago -we have now moved in - sans furniture and some painting to finish - but other than that great!

Well. The builders have finished up and left. The place looks great. Many pictures when hondutel gets theior act together and the internet is back up and running (I write froma n internet cafe). Leston and his crew have done a great job. It's a great addition to the cocolobo complex and the triple room soon to be vacated by RM is booked for ten days from the 17th of this month. Other developments

Some general island news:

an 18 hole golf course is being built - it is said to be open from the middle of next year and it will be 'world class'. It's located on the central south side of the island.

Also - interesting development on the north side - just by The View restaurant...Nikki Beach - this is one of a chain already in Florida and Turks and Caicos etc. A guest of ours says it is very upscale. To open 2010.
